Sam Foltz, punter for the Nebraska Cornhuskers was killed in an automobile accident back on July 23rd, 2016. Sam was an all around student and an accomplished football player in both high school and in college. During the home opener in Lincoln against Fresno State, when time came for the first punt of the game, the cornhuskers lined up with no punter. As they let the play clock wind down, they had a moment of silence for their fallen teammate. Fresno State decided to decline the penalty so Nebraska would not lose any yards for the delay of game call, The Fresno State coach as well as multiple players from both teams were seen getting emotional.
To make matters worse, the Foltz family home was robbed on Saturday night while the family was attending the football game. Police say the home was targeted because burglars knew the family would not be home due to the tribute. Way to just pile it on for the Foltz family.
