Don't Believe Everything You Read: STP Still Has No Singer

Don't Believe Everything You Read: STP Still Has No Singer

Much of the world was shocked and heart broken when Scott Weiland passed away last December. Not long after his passing, Stone Temple Pilots began to collaborate with Linkin Park's Chester Bennington. The band ditched Bennington on good terms and began holding open auditions for a new frontman earlier this year. Early yesterday, Entertainment Tonight reported that STP had chosen Jeffery Adam Gutt as their new singer. Well a band rep shut that rumor down a few hours later when he confirmed that the band has still not chosen a lead singer. You can read more about the mix up and conflicting reports HERE. So we will wait for new info from the band, and if your one true dream in life is to sing for STP, it sounds like there's still hope for you!

Metallica Back On Napster!

Metallica Back On Napster!

We've heard a lot of crazy news from the wild and wacky world of Metallica over the last few weeks. Be it Lars Ulrich revisiting the Napster Battle, the band raising donations for kids and animals in need, or Kirk Hammett just saying he "can play anything," the news has just kept flowing. Well, as of yesterday I think we got the most insane news story from the band yet. For the first time in 17 years, all of Metallica's music will be available on...wait for it... NAPSTER

I'll give you a second to close your mouth.

Yeah, that Napster. The same Napster that Metallica sued the hell out of 17 years ago. The parties have officially come to terms and the bands full catalog will be available on the streaming service soon. There is no official date on when the music will go live on Napster, but we do know that "Hardwired...To Self-Destruct" will be streamable, so it will probably be in the next few days.

Now Napster is a much different company than the college kids that Metallica sued back at the turn of the century. What started out as a peer-to-peer file sharing service has transformed in to a full paid subscription streaming service. This is due largely in part to the Napster/Rhapsody merger in 2011. While Napster hasn't reached the popularity of Spotify, they do claim to be one of the world's top 5 streaming services.

Kirk Hammett says 'I Can Play Anything'

Kirk Hammett says 'I Can Play Anything'

So you have to give it to him in some ways, If you really listen to any single from Hardwired, it's easy to tell that the whole band is at peak performance level. Well Hammett sat down with Guitar World to talk about the prep for the new album. Now, I have a lot of respect for Kirk and all the guys, but "I can play anything" sounds a little bit over confident to me. You can read more of the interview and decide for yourself right over HERE.

Metal Coffee!!!!

Metal Coffee!!!!

OH YEAH! What's the only thing more insane than coffee?? METAL COFFEE!

Ok, now that my excitement has died down a bit, on to the real news. Metal band Periphery has partnered with Vigilante Coffee Company to create their own line of coffee called "Flatline." The brew is in honor of the track of the same name on the bands fifth studio album Periphery III: Select Difficulty which came out in July.

Now I'm not really much of a coffee fan, I'm mostly hear to spread the word to all the coffee lovers of the world. But! I want to know if it's worth trying! So go out and get it and let me know, maybe this will be the cup that changes me forever. You can get more info on the coffee and the band's thoughts on this new venture over HERE.

Three Cheers for Good Guy Metallica!

Three Cheers for Good Guy Metallica!

So I tend to rag on Metallica a lot, be it for their not-so-great last three albums or their never ending issues with Napster. But, no matter how often I do put them on the short end of my stick, I do believe credit should be given where credit is due, and boy is it due! Metallica recently raised almost ten tons of food for kids and animals in Columbia!

Metallica played a show in Bogota, Columbia last week where the 25,000 fans in attendance were asked to donate non-perishable food items to help the native people of northern Columbia. The Challenger Foundation and Corazones Peluditos (or Furry Hearts) Handled the donations, which came in at well over nine tons and almost hit the ten ton mark according to RCN Radio

The food will go to help the Wayuú tribe in northern Columbia, where children and animals are dying weekly due to malnourishment and clean drinking water.
