So I tend to rag on Metallica a lot, be it for their not-so-great last three albums or their never ending issues with Napster. But, no matter how often I do put them on the short end of my stick, I do believe credit should be given where credit is due, and boy is it due! Metallica recently raised almost ten tons of food for kids and animals in Columbia!
Metallica played a show in Bogota, Columbia last week where the 25,000 fans in attendance were asked to donate non-perishable food items to help the native people of northern Columbia. The Challenger Foundation and Corazones Peluditos (or Furry Hearts) Handled the donations, which came in at well over nine tons and almost hit the ten ton mark according to RCN Radio.
The food will go to help the Wayuú tribe in northern Columbia, where children and animals are dying weekly due to malnourishment and clean drinking water.
