R.I.P. # 1...Joey Jordison...founding member and drummer of Slipknot, has died at the age of 46.... :( (SLIPKNOT Tribute Video added)

JJSK14Q
Joey's family released an official statement earlier today (July 27th)

"We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison, prolific drummer, musician and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26th, 2021. He was 46. Joey's death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music. The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes."

Jordison was a founding member of Slipknot and was with the band from its inception in 1995 until his departure in 2013. Of the nine members, he was regarded as "Number 1." He later revealed that he suffered from transverse myelitis, a neurological disease that limited his the ability to play the drums. Not only was he one of metal's premier drummers, he was a key songwriter in the group, responsible for co-writing some of Slipknot's best-known songs. Jordison went on to perform with Scar The Martyr, The Rejects, and Sinsaenum. While he was still in Slipknot, he also played guitar in the band Murderdolls.

Slipknot and the band's current members have honored late co-founding drummer Joey Jordison by blacking out their social media.
UPDATE: SLIPKNOT paid tribute to Joey..."Our hearts go out to Joey's family and loved ones at this time of tremendous loss. Joey Jordison's art, talent, and spirit could not be contained or be held back. Joey's impact on Slipknot, on our lives, and on the music that he loved, is incalculable. Without him there would be no us. We mourn his loss with the entire Slipknot family. We love you, Joey."  -SLIPKNOT (video below)

Condolences to Joey Jordison's family, friends, and bandmates....Bear witness to his incredible skills here (Slipknot's performance of "Psychosocial" at the 2009 Roskilde festival)

Love And Death (Brian "Head" Welch of Korn) Debut “Let Me Love You” Video, Lacey Sturm Guests

LDP2021
Love And Death, fronted by Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, have premiered the official music video for their cover of DJ Snake & Justin Bieber's song "Let Me Love You". Former Flyleaf vocalist Lacey Sturm guests on this track, which can be found on Love And Death's latest album, "Perfectly Preserved".

"'LMLY' has been one of my favorite tracks to cover. It's so enjoyable to me making a pop song super heavy. Having three vocalists perform on the track was unique as well and I love the way mine, Lacey and JR [Bareis]'s voices blend together. When I asked Lacey to do the song with us I had no idea what the lyrics would mean to her at that particular time. After discovering what she was going through, my main hope with the song was that Lacey would find healing, and that healing might extend to anyone struggling in life who heard the track. "The 'never give up' message that directors Sebastien Paquet and Alison Roberto worked hard to convey in the music video profoundly mirrored some of the conversations Lacey and I were having behind the scenes, without either director having prior knowledge of the conversations, so we were very blown away by that and we're so proud of what we achieved here with this song and video. Art is so much more powerful than we think." - Brian "Head" Welch

"Working with Love And Death on 'Let Me Love You' was sort of a supernatural experience. I was mourning the loss of a loved one when I recorded the song. Mourning is a multifaceted process and sort of comes in waves. They asked me to do the song at a very dark moment in that process. When I went to sing in the studio the lyrics were everything I wanted to sing and scream in response to this death; which felt like such a theft." - Lacey Sturm

"We chose to record at Guillaume Tell Studio in France again as the place has such a relaxed vibe. The setup there is perfect for our needs; the building used to be a cinema and has a really high ceiling so there's a great acoustic sound. We recorded this album in the same way we did The Book Of Souls in that we'd write a song, rehearse it and then put it down together straight away while it was all fresh in our minds. There's some very complex songs on this album which took a lot of hard work to get them exactly as we wanted them to sound, so the process was at times very challenging, but Kevin is great at capturing the essence of the band and I think it was worth the effort! I'm very proud of the result and can't wait for fans to hear it." - bassist Steve Harris.

--------------------------------------------

IRON MAIDEN today revealed their brand-new track, "The Writing On The Wall," with an eagerly anticipated global YouTube video premiere. The song was written by Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith & lead singer Bruce Dickinson, produced by Kevin Shirley and co-produced by Maiden bassist and founder-member Steve Harris.

Bruce Dickinson initially had a concept for the video which came to fruition in collaboration with two Award-winning former Pixar executives and long-standing Maiden fans Mark Andrews & Andrew Gordon. The pair have over 50 years of animation industry experience between them at the very top-level including work on The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Brave, Monsters Inc & Finding Nemo. With partners lining up to get involved with the project they chose BlinkInk, a London based animation studio celebrated for their work with a variety of global brands from Adidas to Coca-Cola and a number of high-profile music videos.

In BlinkInk director Nicos Livesey, another long-time Maiden fan & kindred spirit, they found a man who shared the collective vision for the track – resulting in the final film which features the very first glimpse of a stunning new incarnation of Eddie in spectacular 3D form.

Bruce comments "I had a pretty clear idea of the concept to accompany the song and when I met Mark and Andrew, on Zoom, it quickly became clear we were all very much on the same wavelength, and this was reinforced with the addition of Nicos and his young BlinkInk team. Our weekly team Zoom meetings were then usually both highly creative and a lot of fun!

I'm very proud of the way the video turned out, it's more like a mini-film really. I knew it was going to work out as soon as Mark brought my treatment to life with his incredible storyboards - I thought we could make something very special together. I think we did and hope our fans will agree. In fact it's pretty much created by Maiden fans!!"

Five Finger Death Punch’s Ivan Moody ain't just a pretty face! He's releasing a book this Halloween, titled ‘Ivan Moody’s Dirty Poetry’!

unnamed
FFDP's Ivan Moody is making his literary debut with an illustrated book of original poems. Look for it this October in hardcover with signed special editions available exclusively through the Z2 Comics website!

"Out of all the projects I've undertaken, this is something truly out of the ordinary, completely unorthodox, and without 'creative walls.' It is by far the oddest thing I've ever done (and that's saying something). I had no idea how this would turn out but thankfully between illustrator Blake Armstrong and myself, I'm ecstatic with this first edition of 'Dirty Poetry'. I'm intrigued and excited to share this full dose of my thought-provoking/chaotic and emotionally stimulating artistic vision with all of you....Welcome… to my rabbit hole." - Ivan Moody

"'Dirty Poetry' definitely stands out as one of the more free and unique creative experiences I've had in my career. Ivan's overall vision for this book was so twisted and tantalizing it would have been hard to keep me away from it. Our collaboration was truly a blast and I think the love shows on every page. My only hope is that the readers enjoy the book at least half as much as we did working on it. It's gratifying to be a part of something so weird, unexpected and special." - illustrator Blake Armstrong
