Andrew Watt Says Unreleased Ozzy Osbourne Songs Are Still Out There

unnamed-1

There's more Ozzy Osbourne music we haven't heard yet, and producer Andrew Watt says those unreleased songs carry some heavy memories.

Even after the final curtain fell on the Prince of Darkness, there may still be more music waiting in the vault.

Andrew Watt, who produced and performed on Ozzy Osbourne's final two studio albums, Ordinary Man and Patient Number 9, has confirmed that unreleased material from their time together remains unheard by the public. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Watt opened up about the songs and the emotional weight they carry following Ozzy's death.

"There are some songs that we made for a specific reason, and yeah, that's all I can say," Watt explained. "They're hard for me to listen to. I haven't listened to them since Ozzy passed."

That's a pretty powerful statement, especially considering the last time Watt and Ozzy sat down together to listen to the material was the night before the historic Back To The Beginning concert on July 4, 2025. The show would become Ozzy's final performance with Black Sabbath before he passed away just weeks later at age 76.

Watt recalled that final listening session as a special moment between the two, saying they went through the recordings, made notes and talked about a lot of things. It was one of the last times he would see Ozzy.

"It's hard to think about, but I miss him every day," Watt said.

And while the possibility of more Ozzy music is enough to get any longtime fan talking, there was another major project that almost happened: a new Black Sabbath album featuring the band's original lineup.

According to Watt, the idea came directly from Ozzy himself. The singer wanted to make a Sabbath album that included drummer Bill Ward, something the classic lineup had never done together in the studio in quite the same way as fans might have hoped.

Ozzy gave Watt his marching orders: call guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and then Ward.

Iommi and Butler were both open to the idea, provided Ward was involved. But when Watt spoke with Ward, the drummer was unable to participate for personal reasons. Without him, the project ultimately fell apart.

Recently, Iommi suggested Watt may have been a little too excited about trying to get the album off the ground. Watt didn't exactly deny that description.

"You know me. I'm definitely an excited musician, person," he told Rolling Stone, adding that enthusiasm wasn't the reason the project failed.

As for Iommi's comments, Watt seemed to take them in stride, saying he thought the guitarist was just "taking the piss" — and adding that anyone who wants to joke around with him absolutely should.

So, where does that leave us? No confirmed release date, no official announcement about the unreleased Ozzy tracks and no new Black Sabbath album on the horizon.

But knowing there's music out there that Ozzy and Watt sat together and listened to just hours before that final Sabbath celebration? That makes those recordings feel like something more than just another batch of songs.

For now, the music remains in the vault. And if it ever does see the light of day, you can bet the rock world will be listening.
