Live Nation's New Survey Says People Prefer Concerts Over Sex, and Honestly...Same

Live Nation recently surveyed 40,000 people (age 18-54) across 15 countries and discovered that 70% of them would choose seeing their favorite artist live over getting lucky. Seventy. Percent. 

That means if you ask ten people whether they'd prefer a night of passion or a night in the pit, seven of them would already be lacing up their Converses. Honestly? Inspirational. (I mean... have you ever seen Bring Me the Horizon, Godsmack, System of a Down, or Ice Nine Kills Live? Exactly.) 

Live Nation also dug a little deeper and asked what type of entertainment people would keep if they could only choose one:

• 39% chose live music
• 17% chose movies in a theater
• 14% chose professional sports
• The rest fell across TV, gaming, and other categories. 

So what's the point of this survey? Live Nation wanted to show that even though ticket prices are rising, fans are still showing up in massive numbers.  According to Google, ticket prices have jumped 30-45% in the last five years; from roughly $90-$96 in 2019 to an average of $135-$136 in 2024.  

And fans aren't just buying tickets, they're traveling too. According to Live Nation, fans logged 40 billion miles attending shows, with 6 out 10 people traveling for concerts. And honestly, between tickets, gas, food, and hotels it's still cheaper than the therapy bill from one night with your situationship. 

Yet even with ticket prices nearly doubling and traveling on top of it, the true aphrodisiac seems to be a $22 beer and a band that goes on 45 minutes late because no one has ever yelled " One more position!" the way the crowd screams "One more song!"
