Hear Corey Taylor on new Flat Black (Ex-FFDP) “Nothing To Some”

blf
Flat Black is ex-Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Jason Hook's next endeavor and they just launched their new single "Nothing To Some" that features a guest cameo from Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor. It'll be included on Flat Black's eventual debut album, which was produced by Hook and Chris Collier (Korn, Prong).

Hook launched Flat Black in 2023 and has released the songs "Halo," "It's Your Lack of Respect" and "Justice Will Be Done."

"'Nothing To Some' features the brutal and unapologetic Corey Taylor. This guy is a bottomless pit of creativity and delivered a vocal that perfectly matched what I wanted for this track. The guitar solo is unique on the album in the way that I let it rip with no rhythm guitars underneath. Now that I'm in a one-guitar band, I could strip it down and let it be as raw as Corey is on the vocal track. I remember hammering out live takes with Rob pounding away next to me. It was inspiring." - Jason Hook

The band will be out with Godsmack and Nothing More this summer, including Inkcarceration Festival Saturday July 20.

"TALK SICK" NEW SONG off Corey Taylor's upcoming album. Listen now!

Corey Taylor's new album CMF2 will be available September 15. Watch the official video for "Talk Sick"

"That sick guitar at the beginning, I played that through a speaker about the size of a coffee cup. It made it sound violent; you feel like you're being stung by bees who are playing along to the Sex Pistols." - Corey Taylor

"There's an element of spiritual regurgitation, trying to purge yourself of demons that have been clinging to you because of prior relationships, romantic or otherwise. You realize those people bring a certain a****** side out of you that you don't necessarily want in your life. It's about trying to lance that boil and get that sickness out of you." - Taylor on the meaning of the song.

Corey Taylor is a huge horror fan, so it's no surprise that he would agree to go through "Blood Prison" during the Inkcarceration Festival last month at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. He got a taste of his own medicine with masked monsters terrorizing him!

Corey Taylor went on a journey through the horrifying Blood Prison at the Ohio State Reformatory with two lucky winners while at Ink. The tour experience was in support The Taylor Foundation: Helping veterans and first responders find connection and healing, by partnering with carefully selected local organizations in order to create a community and network for those in need of support. "I'm really, really excited. I mean, everything's just bigger this time. Everything sounds better. Everything's running better. Everything's running hot. Instead of where I came from, this is where I'm going. Musically, it's harder. It's faster, but there's still tons of stuff from the first album. So, there's elements of Slipknot. There's elements of Stone Sour. There's elements of 'CMFT.' There's elements of the stuff that I've been doing for years. Just, like, cover-wise or whatever. All the stuff that I've always wanted to do. We are just… we're doing that. Just cranking it up and it all sounds so fucking good, that I can't even describe to you how stoked I am to be starting on this. And today's the day. Today's the day. Today's the fucking one. Let's get going! I'm serious as a heart attack. Nobody is ready for what they're about to hear, for real. But first, we gotta record it." - Corey Taylor (via social vid)
