The Foo Fighters 2026 North American tour is a sort of homecoming for Dave Grohl as his friend for the last 33 years, Josh Homme, and his band, Queens of the Stone Age, are the opening act.
Grohl says, "What better way to share the view than with close friends. In 1992 I first saw the legendary Kyuss perform at the Off Ramp in Seattle and met Mr. Josh Homme. The band were friends of a friend, and before long their album Blues for the Red Sun became the soundtrack to that summer. 33 years later and with many miles behind us, I have shared some of my life's most rewarding musical moments with my dear friend, Josh.
"A lifelong bond that goes far beyond the sound we've made together. So it is with great happiness that we can share this next chapter together with his almighty Queens of the Stone Age. Take cover."
In 2023, Homme spoke about their relationship in an interview with NME (New Musical Express), saying, "Dave has been one of the longest romances I've had that's worked. He's such a good guy, but I also love his dark side. I love mixing our watercolors together like that, just in conversation. We go to this place, that I won't name, just to eat breakfast and waffles and talk about times."
Grohl and Homme have also worked together with Grohl playing drums on the third Queens of the Stone Age album, 2002's Songs for the Deaf. And then again seven years later when Grohl, Homme and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones joined forces as Them Crooked Vultures and recorded one album.
The Foos' North American leg, with QOTSA opening, starts on August 4th in Toronto. They have two shows left this year — November 12th in Monterrey, Mexico and the 14th in Mexico City.
