Motley Crue's new song "Dogs of War" features their new lead guitarist, John 5 and the band describes the song as "the start of a brand new chapter" for Crue.

They haven't been on a proper label in 20 years but this marks their first released under their new deal with Big Machine Records, It's their first new music since 2019 (The Dirt which included the Machine Gun Kelly collaboration) AND they've reunited w/ producer Bob Rock (Dr. Feelgood)

"It's always great getting back in the studio with the guys in the band. We know you're gonna like this one." - Bassist Nikki Sixx

"Working with the band on the new song was the easiest session I have ever had with them... The Crue is the best they have ever been! And they have plenty of new stuff in store." - Producer Bob Rock

"There'll definitely be new music out next year, for sure, because we recorded a couple of other songs, too. Maybe we'll release one of those by the end of the year, but I can't say. But we want to keep putting out new music - not, maybe, an album but a few songs here, a few songs there, and that's good. (Dogs Of War) Is like old school meets new school. It's got that old school vibe about it, but it's new music. Nikki [Sixx] came up with it and he sent me the music and I thought it was really cool. So I started singing it and we got in the studio and it turned into the song I think the fans are really gonna like it." - Frontman Vince Neil

Motley Crue went into the studio last year with new guitarist John 5 to record a handful of songs, and the first of those, "Dogs of War," has an accompanying animated video with anthropomorphic doberman dogs and pigs in suits

Still no word on a new album or how they plan to release some of the other songs they recorded last year, including a cover of the Beastie Boys' "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)."

I had a chance to catch up with Vince and Nikki this week. It's posted below for your entertainment!!

Hear Corey Taylor on new Flat Black (Ex-FFDP) “Nothing To Some”

blf
Flat Black is ex-Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Jason Hook's next endeavor and they just launched their new single "Nothing To Some" that features a guest cameo from Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor. It'll be included on Flat Black's eventual debut album, which was produced by Hook and Chris Collier (Korn, Prong).

Hook launched Flat Black in 2023 and has released the songs "Halo," "It's Your Lack of Respect" and "Justice Will Be Done."

"'Nothing To Some' features the brutal and unapologetic Corey Taylor. This guy is a bottomless pit of creativity and delivered a vocal that perfectly matched what I wanted for this track. The guitar solo is unique on the album in the way that I let it rip with no rhythm guitars underneath. Now that I'm in a one-guitar band, I could strip it down and let it be as raw as Corey is on the vocal track. I remember hammering out live takes with Rob pounding away next to me. It was inspiring." - Jason Hook

The band will be out with Godsmack and Nothing More this summer, including Inkcarceration Festival Saturday July 20.

Mick Mars "Loyal To The Lie" from new solo album 'The Other Side Of Mars' (video)

unnamed

Today, Mick Mars has presented the lead single from his solo debut titled 'THE OTHER SIDE OF MARS'  which will be released on February 23, 2024.

Sharing a thought tied to the leadoff track "Loyal to the Lie," Mars shares, "I wanted to do something that was just big and mean," Mars says with a laugh. But no matter what direction he's going in on The Other Side of Mars, what ties it all together is "that people are going to hear my tone – my sound," Mars says. "I am what I am. Nobody else can do it. And like everyone, I've got a limited number of years. So, I'm gonna do all I can to do a lot of stuff."

Mars enlisted a crack team of musicians to help him along the way. A key contributor to the project was Winger and former Alice Cooper keyboardist (and, like Mars, Nashville resident) Paul Taylor, who, in addition to performing on the record and assisting Mars in co-writing many of the tracks, introduced the guitarist to powerhouse vocalist Jacob Bunton. "Jacob came into the studio and it was like, bam!" Mars recalls. "And I just said, 'Yeah, he's the guy.' And most of his vocals were one take."

The supporting band was rounded out by Korn drummer Ray Luzier, bassist Chris Collier and singer Brion Gamboa, who contributed lead vocals to two songs. Mars reflects, "those required a little bit more of an angsty, desperation kind of thing. And Brion really came to the table with that." Alongside playing bass on all songs recorded, Collier mixed and mastered the debut solo album.

But while Mars surrounded himself with a new cast of players for the sessions, there was one figure who represented a significant link to his storied past: Michael Wagener. The much-lauded German producer and engineer worked behind the boards on Mötley Crüe's 1981 debut, Too Fast For Love, and his relationship with Mars stretches even further back. "I had known him for a long time, and I actually brought him to Mötley," Mars says. Working with Wagener this time, the guitarist continues, "he had such an understanding of where I wanted to go with the material. And he never said 'Hey, do this,' or tried to change my mind or anything like that. He was just really, adamant about recording what I wanted to record, and making sure we recorded it right."

The result is a record unlike anything Mars has offered up in his more than 40-year career.
