Just in time for Christmas, an all-star collection of metal stars have come together to give Slayer's classic track "Season In The Abyss" a festive makeover.

Members of Haken, Dream Theater, Protest the Hero, Cradle of Filth and Inhuman Condition have ventured south of Lapland for this festive version of a Slayer classic.

"Seasons Greetings In The Abyss" combines the music of Slayer with sleigh bell celebration, with alternate lyrics penned by artist and illustrator Dan Goldsworthy (Accept, Alestorm and Sylosis) and Charlie Griffiths of Haken, who also both take on guitar duties.

Vocals are delivered by Canadian croon-maestro Rody 'angel of breath' Walker of Protest the Hero and tuba (yes tuba!) is supplied by Haken drummer Ray 'nin blood' Hearne. Cradle of Filth's Dani-el 'awaits' Firth and Inhuman Condition drummer Jeramie 'klerry' Kling fill out the core-ensemble and special guest Jordan 'captor of synth' Rudess shows no mercy with a face mashing keyboard solo.

Griffiths had this to say about the collaboration: "Injecting this song with some Christmas cheer worked better than any of us expected! Apparently Jeff Hanneman loved Christmas, so hopefully he would approve of our tribute and I hope we help to spread some musical merriment during yet another Christmas of uncertainty in the pandemic abyss. Thanks to all the guys for joining in with the fun and to Scott Atkins for mixing!

Eternal gratitude to the all the members of Slayer and we wish everyone a Merrytory Yuletide!

Move Over Power Rangers and X-Men! Members of Slipknot, Stone Sour, Anthrax, Slayer & Halestorm are "Thunder Force!"...well, sort of......

ThunderForceblog2021

IT'S THUNDER FORCE! We thought the Power Rangers had balls! Sink the sounds of these Wonder Powers into your ear holes: Corey Taylor, Lzzy Hale, Scott Ian from Anthrax axeman, Slayer drum beast Dave Lombardo and electric cellist Tina Guo, have teamed up for the title track to the forthcoming Netflix superhero comedy starring Melissa McCarthy, Octavia Spencer, Jason Bateman.

The song was written by Fil Eisler, Taylor and Ian. Check out the end credits of the film for proof! The movie and soundtrack premiere on April 9th.

"One of the great things about scoring movies is that I get to play in a lot of different musical sandboxes and occasionally the opportunity comes up to invite in some special guests. Anthrax and Slayer played a huge part in my childhood and I've been a fan of both Corey [Taylor] and Lzzy [Hale] for years, so when the idea of doing an orchestral metal score came up, it was a perfect excuse to go straight to the source. Why fake it when you can work with the real originals! It was honestly one of the most outright fun experiences of my scoring career so far" - Fil Eisler

"It was awesome to work on this track with Lzzy and be a part of the film Thunder Force. It is always nice to be creative and work with other artists in the community, especially during this extended time at home. I'm excited for everyone to hear the song and see the film!" - Corey Taylor

"I'm beyond excited to be included on the Thunder Force soundtrack, surrounded by friends, representing the genres I love so much, Rock and Metal! You won't know what hit you! Remember, LIGHTNING NEVER STRIKES IF YOU CAN'T FORCE THE THUNDER!" - Lzzy Hale

"I have had the privilege of working in the music industry for over 35 years. There is something incredibly exhilarating about performing on stage, specifically the edge that comes with the off the rails style of music I play. Working with Fil Eisler on Thunder Force somehow captured that same feeling. This score is a powerful musical engine. It was a pleasure to be a part of the team that helped this come to life." - Dave Lombardo

In a world where supervillains are commonplace, two estranged childhood best friends reunite after one devises a treatment that gives them powers to protect their city. Check out the trailer below!!  https://www.netflix.com/title/81079259
