Metallica gobsmacked us w/ the Release of New Song "Lux AEterna", Album and Tour Details

Metallica's 12th Full-Length Album '72 Seasons' Drops Friday, April 14th, 2023 – their first studio album since the Platinum-selling Hardwired…to Self-Destruct! "Lux Æterna" is the lead single (masterful video below)

Metallica has confirmed the title and release date of its forthcoming 12th studio album: 72 Seasons will be available April 14, 2023 via the band's own Blackened Recordings. Produced by Greg Fidelman with Hetfield & Ulrich, and clocking in at over 77 minutes, the 12-track 72 Seasons is Metallica's first full length collection of new material since 2016's Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. The album will be released in formats including 2LP 140g black vinyl and limited edition variants, CD and digital—for a full listing of configurations, pre-orders and further information, go to metallica.com/72-seasons-info.

72 Seasons is heralded by first single "Lux Æterna," a short, sharp blast that distills 40 years of Metallica into three and a half minutes. "Lux Æterna" is available now to stream and download, and as an instant grat track with all pre-orders of 72 Seasons. To watch the "Lux Æterna" video, directed by Tim Saccenti, go here.

Speaking on the concept of the album title, James Hetfield said: "72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told 'who we are' by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry."

Today also marks the announcement of every Metallica show booked through 2023 and 2024: Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, Metallica's M72 world tour will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits—with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the I Disappear full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Two-day tickets will be on sale Friday, December 2nd at ticketmaster.com and will include the option of pre-ordering 72 Seasons vinyl and/or CD. Single day tickets will be available beginning January 20th. For further information including fan club presales, enhanced experiences and more, go to metallica.com/m72-info.

A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the band's All Within My Hands foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH's efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band have raised nearly $13 million – providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the US, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.

"Lux Æterna" Lyrics

Anticipation

In domination

A sea of hearts beat as one, unified

Magnification

All generations

Approaching thunder awaiting the light

Full speed or nothing

Full speed or nothing

Lux Æterna

Lux Æterna

Exhilaration

Frenzied sensation

Kindred alliance connected inside

Commiseration

Sonic salvation

Cast out the demons that strangle your life

Full speed or nothing

Full speed or nothing

Lux Æterna

Lux Æterna

Lux Æterna

Emancipation

Kill isolation

Never alone for the feelings alike

Amplification

Lightning the nation

Never alive more

Than right here tonight

Full speed or nothing

Full speed or nothing

Lux Æterna

Lux Æterna

Light it

The Mongolian folk metal band will be releasing their 2nd album through Better Noise Music, soon.

"We shot in the Mojave Desert, Nevada and the environment reminded us of Gobi Desert in Mongolia. We enjoyed shooting the video, which happened during our tour and gave us a little break to reminisce about home. The song perfectly matched the environment we made the video in. It was one of the best memories we created as a band and it was special because our producer Dashka was with us to oversee the whole process."

New Five Finger Death Punch Album “AfterLife” out in August and Here's the Latest Single “IOU”

5FDP_AfterLife_StandardCover_1200p_20220514-170508_1
Five Finger Death Punch have announced August 19th as the release date for their new 12 song album "Afterlife" through Better Noise Music.

"'Afterlife' was hands down my favorite record to make. It is our ninth album so at this point, we have legions of loyal fans, and our signature sound is more than established. It became its own island, our ground zero we operate from and we can always come back to. So when we started this record, there was an excitement of impending musical adventures, we knew we could step away as far as we wanted to, there was a freedom of truly 'anything goes.'"

"This resulted in an album that is way more diverse than our previous ones, while it feels more unified, because there is a framework of overarching stories in Ivan's lyrics and interconnecting musical motifs between songs. It was not planned as a concept album, but we were so hyper-focused on painting a complete picture, it somehow feels like one… We are very proud of it and are just as impatient as the fans waiting for the release, can't wait to share it."
- guitarist Zoltan Bathory

Check out the lyric video for the new single "IOU".
According to an official press release, "the interactive virtual world will be a gamified fan club experience, developed on the near photorealistic Unreal Engine and providing an extension of the band's existing Fan Club app in the near future." Download the Five Finger Death Punch Fan Club app here: https://premium.fivefingerdeathpunch.com/home

"AfterLife" track listing:
01 – "Welcome To The Circus"
02 – "AfterLife"
03 – "Times Like These"
04 – "Roll Dem Bones"
05 – "Pick Up Behind You"
06 – "Judgment Day"
07 – "IOU"
08 – "Thanks For Asking"
09 – "Blood And Tar"
10 – "All I Know"
11 – "Gold Gutter"
12 – "The End"

The band will be touring this summer/fall with Megadeth, The HU & Fire From The Gods with stops on 9/28 in Cincinnati, OH at Riverbend Music Center and 10/04 in Cleveland, OH at Blossom Music Center. According to the band, stay tuned for additional tour dates

NOTHING MORE Unveil New Song and Video for “TIRED OF WINNING,” from Upcoming Album

CHAIR-SELECTS-9-fina_20220429-235708_1

NOTHING MORE released their new single "TIRED OF WINNING" as a preview of their forthcoming album and follow-up to the band's 2017 album The Stories We Tell Ourselves.

JONNY HAWKINS on "TIRED OF WINNING"

Q: "TIRED OF WINNING" is a compelling song with lyrics that underline the very precarious position that humankind is in right now: "So will we steer this ship straight through the void/ Or turn on ourselves and die out?" What inspired the song and how it mocks the phrase "winning"?

A: We find ourselves in the same position humanity has found itself over and over again… at the end of a series of self made problems. When we wake up to this, we realize that we are our own worst enemy, yet we focus so much of our energy on externalizing our problems. This song is a bird's eye view of human nature.

●Q: Vocally, the performance is stadium-size and intimate all at once, putting across the urgency of the song's lyrics. What was going through your mind as you sang with this level of intensity? How will you translate this message into your live performance?

A: This may sound a bit lofty, but when I sing this song I feel as if the entire universe is coursing through my veins. I get goosebumps because I feel in line with something I can't quite describe… like an old familiar spirit shows up.

●Q: The song ends with the lines: "Are we going to live this life?" How do you feel we as a people got it all wrong--and where do you think we might all be headed?

A: I think we all tend to lose the meaning in life by hyper focusing on it and romanticizing it. It's a paradox… It's like trying to grasp water in your hand; the tighter you hold, the less you have. The more weight you put on the "meaning" of your life, the less you feel connected to it. The purpose of life might be as simple as life itself… nothing more, nothing less.

●Q: Musically, the song is very intense with unique sounds + a jarring rhythm that underline the chaos of this moment we are living in. Can you talk about the recording of the song and how you wanted it to sonically capture the song's theme?

A: We wanted it to sound like aliens had a baby with a 90's rock band. That baby grew up, dropped out of college and made our music video.
