Black Label Society’s “Ozzy’s Song”: Zakk Wylde’s Tribute to the Man Who Changed His Life (watch)

Zakk Wylde Finally Gets His Ozzy Song...Some things just need a guitar turned all the way up.

Black Label Society's new album, 'Engines of Demolition', closes with "Ozzy's Song"- Zakk Wylde's personal tribute to the guy who gave him one hell of a ride through rock 'n' roll history.

Zakk actually wrote the music before Ozzy died. The lyrics came later, after losing his longtime friend, boss, bandmate and mentor.

And you can hear the history in it.

It starts stripped down with piano and acoustic guitar before Zakk eventually lets that guitar rip. It's not a typical Black Label Society crusher. It's darker, more personal and feels a lot like Zakk putting everything he had into one final musical salute to Ozzy.

These two spent decades together, from Ozzy's solo band to countless tours, beers, stories and enough guitar volume to probably rearrange the Earth's tectonic plates.

Now Zakk has turned all of that history into a song.

"Ozzy's Song" is the final track on Black Label Society's 'Engines of Demolition'.

And yeah… Turn it up and let Zakk do the talking. Ozzy would expect nothing less.

I caught up with Zakk Wylde - the riff-slinging mastermind behind Black Label Society, "Ozzy's Song"…the guy brews a serious pot of coffee.

We talked life, loyalty, and what it really takes to survive in the music industry. Zakk keeps it simple: play what you love and go all in. No shortcuts, no chasing trends — just grind. He opens up about the challenges young musicians face today, and how different things are compared to the early days with Ozzy Osbourne and that era of rock.

We also got into Black Label Society's latest, Engines of Demolition, plus the story behind Ozzy's tribute song honoring the late Prince of Darkness — a full-circle moment from a career built on brotherhood and riffs.

And that brotherhood? The Black Label Society "chapter" — the family — came from humble beginnings and still reflects the neighborhood roots Zakk came up in.

Catch Zakk live at Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival — he's pulling double duty with Zakk Sabbath on Friday night and Black Label Society on Sunday afternoon.
